Understaff3D dragons are the perfect way to train for heavier fire dragons, without ruining your wicks or bending your spokes during drops! Even UV like sunlight degrades wicks, so keep them safe until they're ready to burn with these 2ndGen dragon hubs!
This variant, Eye of the Sky, was made for the spinner who prefers their dragons heavier and smoother than lighter options can give. They are about 20% heavier than their predecessor Eye of the Storm, but have about 30% more rolling inertia due to more distant mass placement. This lends particularly well to partner dragon staves or any large diameter or long or heavy pole.
Eye of the Sky's rolling inertia is set to emulate 8 wick fuel weight, giving a slower, more deliberate flow due to the wider mass distribution. These heads roll extra smooth from having their weight so evenly distributed around them radially, rather than centralized such as with spoked dragons. The shaping of the mass also creates illusions as its spun!
The overall design goal was to adhere to 2ndGen standards by being able to change into many forms, but still provide a complete circle in default orientation for use as a groundwork staff. Beyond that, Eye of the Sky heads are able to form a central triquetra by bending the outer ends over the middle hub, without any tensioners needed!
Due to major US Tariffs brought on by the current US Administration, direct costs to us for filament and manufacturing hardware increased 12%, with another bump approaching. As a prop-shop that only exists for the passion of the craft, we have chosen to split this cost increase equally with you, rather than pass it straight on to you. Misery Loves Company.

Understaff3D Dragon Heads are the worlds first 2nd Generation Dragons. This means that they not only fit on all common flow prop shaft sizes while needing NO tools for assembly/disassembly, but can also change their weight and roll inertia by taking on many shapes, while also still accepting addons like glowsticks and silks in a Lego-Like Fashion!
Our dragon heads can mimic the inertia of a heavy contact staff, or anywhere in between Contact and Dragon with the tensioners allowing you to radially move mass. This creates endless permutations to play with!
System Weights:
------> ~355 grams/head
------> 8-10grams/adapter
------> 1g/added Undersnap Pin
------> 3g/tensioner added
------> 5g/M5 25mm screw added
------> 3.5g/ bracelet glow stick added
------>25g/ 6" glowstick added
------> Outer Diameter : 345mm
Eye of the Sky is made to emulate 8 wick fire dragons in its default mode which weigh 700g unfueled, and 915g when fully fueled (Threeworlds, not accounting for a pole). Their weight will be like training on an 8wick unfueled, and adding Undersnap Pins and glow sticks can put you anywhere you want in the fueled weight range!
--> Machine perfected mass placement to ensure both sides of your dragon are perfectly identical, down to 8x less than human minimum weight perception
-->Green color is extremely UV reactive. If green is 10/10 UV, Clear is 7/10 UV but allows added lighting to propagate through the heads
-->Crafted from High-Durometer Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU), with permanent brass threads heat inserted into the tightening mechanism removing the need for a locking nut or constant tightening
--> Holds paint extremely well, can easily be custom painted.
-->Resistant to all damage types (for real even Acid, Base, Freeze, Abrasion, Organic Chemicals, Crush and Shatter) EXCEPT fire and slice damage. Does not sand easily. Dry ice bath and then throwing the heads at concrete breaks the concrete, but a box cutter can slice through with some force. Dont drop it on any knives, firepits, or deep water. Otherwise you're good.
-->Spokes return to default flat shape with counterforce, no bending is permanent. You can hair dryer or heat gun the bent parts while resting on a flat surface to perfectly re-allign and reset the shape memory. Try not to leave your dragon in tensioned mode in a hot car. This will make it harder to get your heads to return to default un-tensioned shape as you have now just imprinted new "shape memory" on them. Use a hot air source and a flat surface. Go slow and steady
*Never Take the M5 screw out of the shaft tightening mechanism. There will never be a need to do this for any reason, and it is the only failure case of this ENTIRE system that can not be engineered out. Youll likely cross thread the brass insert when you try to put it back in without properly stretching the mechanism*
-->Fits any 16mm-26mm pole with included shaft adapters
-->Attaches/detaches from staff in seconds with no tools for you to lose in the field
-->Understaff3D tensioners allow you to form new shapes and also change the physics of the dragon, with no tools or knots required!
-->Allows tightening of inner diameter to increase shaft grip and more importantly to tune any rattle out via an inbuilt "spinning top" testing mechanism. Once properly tightened for a specific pole, it shouldnt need to be touched again until a new pole is used.
-->Indestructible from design and material science of TPU. Succinctly put by Wikipedia: "TPU is well known for its applications as an impact modifier of other polymers. It is also used in high-performance films, such as high impact resistant glass structures."
--> Buy it for life. The TPU in these heads will not degrade for long over 400 years, and as a single piece with only one bolt to inevitably replace from rust in 20 years, they will function perfectly the entire time
--> All interior angles blocked which means it will not catch hair
-->Heads can adhere in either direction on the staff, and a full staff stays stood up on its own on one head!
-->Natively accepts bracelet glowsticks in a mind boggling number of possibilities!
-->With Understaff3D snap pins, dragons accept larger diameter glowsticks, fabrics, or anything you can ziptie to a pin.
-->Festival friendly materials so you dont get turned away at the door
-->Made with Zero-Waste, all skirts and imperfect prints, and any plastic waste are upcycled by reheating them in shaped glass containers to make art that we cherish
Included with purchase:
-->Pair of 2nd Gen Eye of the Sky Dragon Heads
-->Two 19mm and two 22m shaft adapters.
-->Two 4mm Allen keys for tuning inner tension and rattle if desired
--> Copper locking threads heat inserted and set up for you
-->Four tensioner loops + a backup to bend your dragon into new shapes and change its behavior
-->60x innovative Understaff3D snap pins of four types to attach bigger glowsticks, flowers, fabrics, or just as mass adjustments/aesthetics
--> Carabiner and felt bag to hold extra pins, tensioners, and adapters conveniently
